The Hahnemuhle Certificate of Authenticity was designed to protect the security and legitimacy of your limited edition artworks and reproductions on Hahnemuhle paper and to reduce the risk of forgery. The certificates are manufactured to the strict standards and regulations of Europay and Clearstream – the world leaders in forgery resistant printing. The security characteristics incorporated into these certificates are both visible and invisible.

Each certificate is made of premium deckled edge mould-made paper with a Hahnemuhle watermark and fluorescent security fibers. A serialized numbered hologram is applied to the certificate. A second, identically numbered hologram should then be applied to the reverse side of the artwork. The combination of certificate and hologram assures that each Certificate of Authenticity relates to one particular piece of art.

The Certificates of Authenticity are available in A4 size, come in boxes of 25 certificates and include 50 hologram stickers. Each piece of artwork requires two holograms. One will be placed on the certificate and the matching serial numbered hologram will be placed on the finished work. Typically, the hologram is positioned out of normal view on the back corner of the piece.

To complete the authentication process, the artist or print house can login on this website and access the Central Certificates of Authenticity Registry. This is a free service offered to the global digital printing community as a means to publicly register the authenticity of their work.

On your first visit to the registry, you will be asked to complete a few basic details about you and about the piece you are registering. You will be asked to set up a user ID and your password will be emailed to you in a few seconds, via a secure server. While registering you may also upload your company logo in .jpeg format to aide in promoting your company. Visitors to the registry will not be able to view or edit any of your personal details, nor edit details of any works you have registered. If you have any questions or problems, please contact us and we would be happy to assist you

To register your work, enter the registry via the Registered Users Gateway where you will be required to enter your user ID and password. At this time you may also include your image in .jpeg format. You will be able to see your registered image under view all registered prints, as a small thumbnail image with all corresponding information adjacent to the image. Then, follow the prompts.

The registry can be used not only for sold works, but also those that are for sale. Visitors to the registry will be able to contact you directly via blind e-mail. Return contact with visitors to the Registry is totally at your discretion. The Registry not only becomes a venue for your authentic registration, but it also becomes a valuable sales tool to you and a prestigious point of reference.

After registering a piece, you have the option to immediately print your Certificate of Authenticity or wait until your artwork is sold. There is a standard format which the registry defaults to, if you do not elect to design your own text format. You can print multiple copies for your records. Be sure that the wording and layout is what you require before printing the final certificate. Once the serial number is logged, you will be able to return to that registered piece and print the certificate at any time.
